2. Conformance Status & Standards
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. ArzyParzy targets full conformance with WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
2.1 Key Accessibility Features Implemented
- Keyboard Navigability: All interactive elements, including dropdowns, search dialogs, canvas tools, buttons, and range sliders, are fully operable via standard keyboard controls without mouse dependency.
- High Contrast Visual Tokens: All text and background combinations maintain a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 (3:1 for large text and UI controls). We utilize a pure light mode theme engineered with deliberate token pairings.
- Visible Focus Indicators: Interactive elements feature a prominent 3px solid violet focus ring with a 2px offset for unambiguous focus tracking.
- Screen Reader Semantic Landmarks: HTML5 landmarks (
<header>,<nav>,<main>,<article>,<aside>,<footer>) and ARIA attributes (such asaria-live="polite"on live tools) provide clear semantic cues. - External Links Disclosure: External links opening in a new tab feature a visual indicator icon and appropriate
aria-labeltext. - Reduced Motion Support: The theme respects the
prefers-reduced-motionoperating system setting, disabling smooth animations and transitions for users sensitive to motion.
3. Known Limitations & Alternatives
While we strive for comprehensive accessibility, interactive 2D canvas manipulation (such as dragging speech bubbles on an illustration canvas) inherently relies on spatial coordinates. To ensure accessible parity, all canvas tools include text inputs, range sliders, and keyboard buttons for adjusting positions, sizes, and styles without requiring freeform drag gestures.
